## Description

Buzzards Bay Rowing Club is an all-volunteer, nonprofit public charity founded in 2005. From its beginnings with 50 members and one boat, the club has grown to more than 100 members, three whaleboats, and two Concept II rowing machines. It rows in New Bedford Harbor, where members can experience the sights and wildlife of the region’s active working waterfront.

The club welcomes newcomers to try whaleboat rowing, with up to three complimentary rowing sessions before choosing from its annual membership options. Members can join open rows, offered four times a week according to a changing schedule, and take part in races ranging from the club’s own Onset Harbor Race to events across Massachusetts, New England, and internationally. Beyond rowing, members enjoy activities such as kayaking, cycling, running, travel, and social gatherings.

Supported by membership dues and fundraising, the club contributes to its community through scholarships for five local high schools, charitable donations, and volunteer use of its boats and services.
