## Description

The Calgary Bird Banding Society (CBBS) is a conservation-focused organization that has promoted the research and protection of Neotropical migratory birds since 1995. Through bird banding, migration monitoring, and public awareness, the society supports avian research in the Calgary region and beyond. Its flagship work takes place at the Inglewood Bird Observatory, located within Inglewood Bird Sanctuary along the Bow River in southeast Calgary, where the society conducts migration monitoring and other banding-based studies.

CBBS research helps assess population trends and document significant re-encounters of birds banded or recaptured by the society. Its findings inform peer-reviewed publications, annual technical reports, trend analyses, and other research outputs. The organization also manages current and completed projects and hosts events, including the Great Canadian Birdathon and International Migratory Bird Day.

People can support CBBS by joining or renewing a membership, volunteering at different experience levels, or developing research projects using existing data and opportunities within its programs. The society connects community involvement with research to advance understanding and conservation of migratory birds.
