## Description

Asociación Calidris is a Colombian civil society organization dedicated to conserving birds and their habitats, working alongside the local communities who live in the country’s biodiverse regions. Founded in Cali and active for more than 30 years, it combines research, conservation initiatives, education, and community participation to support the protection of Colombia’s natural heritage.

Its work includes monitoring waterbirds and shorebirds, identifying species and priority conservation areas, and supporting the AICA program in Colombia. Calidris also promotes participatory science through initiatives such as the Cali Urban Bird Census, the Neotropical Waterbird Census, and Christmas bird counts. Its activities include social outreach, sustainable management, conservation planning, festivals, and birdwatching initiatives.

To share knowledge, the organization provides field guides, manuals, conservation plans, research results, educational materials, and posters. It also publishes news and photographs about birds and conservation. By connecting scientific information with local knowledge and public engagement, Calidris helps communities participate in understanding and protecting the birds and habitats of Colombia.
