Since opening its doors in San Mateo County in April 2015, California Clubhouse has been on a mission to help those whose lives have been impacted by mental illness recover meaningful work and relationships as they reintegrate into the broader community. The Clubhouse provides a safe and inclusive environment where individuals can find empowerment through work, friendship, resources, and support.

Rather than focusing on managing illness, California Clubhouse prioritizes building strengths and fostering personal growth. By offering access to a range of services including employment, housing, education, and medical and psychiatric care, the Clubhouse encourages social and economic inclusion, ultimately reducing the alarming rates of suicide, hospitalization, and incarceration associated with mental illness. Operating as a community rather than a service or treatment program, California Clubhouse believes in participative decision-making, ensuring that each member has a voice in running the Clubhouse.

In this supportive and inclusive environment, individuals living with mental illness can thrive and overcome isolation. California Clubhouse offers both in-person and virtual programs, allowing members to choose the format that suits them best. The Clubhouse is open Monday to Friday, with vaccination proof or a negative COVID test required for the in-person program.
