## Description

Calm Technology is a brand that focuses on the harmonious relationship between humans and computers. Through pass-through, robust technologies, they aim to help manage emerging complexities and coordination needs in homes and the wider world. Designer and researcher Amber Case discovered a set of small papers on Calm Technology in 2007, which led her to question why these ideas were not more well-known. She expanded on these papers to create the principles of calm technology, eventually publishing a book called Calm Technology: Principles and Patterns for Non-Intrusive Design. Today, Calm Technology and Case's design principles are widely adopted by companies such as Microsoft, Samsung, Google, Virgin Global, and Airbnb. Case herself plays a pivotal role as a frequent traveler and speaker on the topic, leading workshops and deep consulting work at various companies and institutions. The concept of calm technology was coined in 1995 by PARC Researchers Mark Weiser and John Seely Brown, who believed that technology should simplify complexities rather than introduce new ones. By honoring their design philosophy, Calm Technology aims to create a future where technology helps us focus on what truly matters.
