Camara Education is an award-winning international charity founded in 2005 in Dublin, Ireland. They have established a proven model of education delivery that is sustainable and highly scalable. In order to support their mission, Camara invites companies to donate computer equipment that they no longer need. Working with their specialist partners, they securely wipe the donated computers and either remarket or recycle them to generate funds. These funds are then used to purchase refurbished computers, which are shipped to Africa. Camara's local staff, in partnership with local educational authorities, prepare the equipment, install software, and resources. They also help schools establish purpose-built classrooms and provide training to local teachers on digital skills. Ongoing support is provided to schools to ensure the equipment is properly maintained and progress is monitored. Camara Education is committed to environmentally appropriate disposal of computers when they are no longer usable. With their achievements so far, including installing computers in schools, supplying schools, training teachers, and benefiting numerous children, they have made a significant impact in transforming life chances in Africa with technology.
