## Description

Campfire Boyz Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in May 2011 by prostate cancer survivors Steve Rishel and Bill MacDonald. Its mission is to fight prostate cancer through music and laughter, while educating and assisting men affected by the disease. The founders began by using their musical talents to raise funds, forming the Campfire Boyz performance group, producing a CD of original songs for sale, and hosting fundraising events.

Initially, the foundation focused on supporting research and development toward a cure. Since 2017, its fundraising has focused on financial assistance for people undergoing prostate cancer treatment. The foundation established a Patient Assistance Fund at Cancer Lifeline, a local nonprofit serving cancer patients in Western Washington. Cancer Lifeline’s trained professionals process applications for support on the foundation’s behalf.

The Campfire Boyz Foundation also shares prostate cancer awareness information, encourages men at increased risk to get screened, and provides related resources. Its music, events, and educational materials help bring attention to the disease and support patients and their families.
