## Description

The Canadian Letters and Images Project is a historical archive that preserves and shares the wartime experiences of Canadians through their own words and images. Directed by Dr. Stephen Davies in the Department of History at Vancouver Island University, the project presents personal accounts of life on the battlefield and the home front, helping visitors connect with Canada’s past through first-hand materials.

The archive includes collections spanning the pre-1914 period, the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, and later years, as well as special items. Visitors can explore letters, photographs, and audio letters, search the archive, and browse featured collections. The site also offers teacher resources, lesson plans, a guest reader directory, and recordings of public figures reading historical letters. The project aims to keep these stories freely available to current and future generations, and invites donations to support their preservation. A platform upgrade is underway; collections remain accessible, although some website functions are temporarily unavailable and no new additions are planned until the upgrade is complete.
