Canadian Mountain Network (CMN) is a national research organization committed to advancing our understanding of mountain systems and their importance to Canadians. Established in 2019, CMN brings together Indigenous and Western ways of knowing to support the resilience and health of Canada's mountain peoples and places. The network prioritizes research partnerships that draw on Indigenous and Western knowledge to inform decision-making and interventions, ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach.

CMN collaborates with Indigenous organizations, universities, governments, businesses, and the not-for-profit sector to advance knowledge and promote the sustainability of mountain environments and communities. In addition to research, CMN is a training network that fosters relationships, trust, and the application of knowledge to local priorities. The network aims to contribute to reconciliation by promoting Indigenous-led research that is relevant, respectful, and generates tangible outcomes to assist communities.

Supported by Canada's research granting agencies, CMN's funding represents a significant opportunity to position Canada as a global leader in mountain systems research. Through its work, CMN seeks to enhance understanding of the impacts of rapid environmental change, improve public and policymaker appreciation of mountain systems, and cultivate innovative models for partnerships across sectors. CMN is not just a research network; it is a vibrant and collaborative community of 17 network members, 90 researchers, 72 trainees, and 66 partner organizations.

Together, they strive to enhance our comprehension of mountain systems, anticipate and mitigate threats to their sustainability, and harness opportunities for the benefit of all Canadians
