## Description

The Foundation for Canadian Comedy (CANCOM) is a federally registered, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting independent professional comedy artists in Canada. It works to strengthen artistic expression and help creators develop Canadian comedy intellectual property for presentation and distribution in Canada and the global digital media market. CANCOM’s programs aim to support artists throughout the creative and production process, encourage independent ownership of comedy content, and foster new collaborations among artists, industry stakeholders, and public-sector organizations.

Its Comedy Grants program provides funding for original comedy projects by Canadian comedians and is described as Canada’s first federal grant program dedicated to the full scope of comedy work. CANCOM also runs a Comedy Symposium, offering free hybrid professional development events and workshops for people working in live comedy, including artistic and technical professionals. Through its Literary Works Program, CANCOM collaborates with Word Collections to provide members access to services at a member rate and support future content creation.
