## Description

Canines and Canes, LLC is a mobile provider of orientation and mobility and guide dog mobility services for people who are blind, have low vision, or are Deaf-Blind. Founded in 2014 by Ellie Carlson, the business works throughout the United States, using no-contact and limited-contact service delivery models. Carlson is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist and Guide Dog Mobility Instructor, has more than 20 years of experience in the blindness field, and is fluent in American Sign Language.

Services include mobility assessments and training, guide dog applicant interviews and home placements, graduate support, team problem-solving, puppy and guide dog transport, boarding, and support for puppy raisers. The business also offers guide dog welfare checks, basic grooming, functional hearing assessments, and mentoring for instructors and students. Public speaking and presentations address topics such as working with Deaf-Blind individuals, travel safety, assistance-animal distinctions, and compassion fatigue.

Canines and Canes uses a Winnebago Solis as a self-sufficient mobile workspace, helping bring field-based services to communities where qualified specialists may be difficult to access.
