## Description

Carbon Motorsports is a Colorado-based racing team competing in Ultra4, King of the Hammers, and national-level karting. Founded in 2018 by driver Ian Koentges, the team grew from a decade-long ambition to race in Ultra4 and at King of the Hammers, one of the largest off-road races in the United States. Koentges began racing shifter karts with his father while growing up in Colorado, and attending King of the Hammers as a spectator in 2010 inspired him to pursue off-road racing.

In 2018, Koentges purchased a Jimmy’s 4x4 Podium buggy and worked with longtime friend and co-driver Tase Flores to develop it from a trail buggy into a competition-ready Ultra4 car. Carbon Motorsports later built a new Jimmy’s 4x4 IFS car for the 2020 season and beyond. The team’s activities include race competition and parts testing, with event appearances such as the Metalcloak Stampede in California. Its website features team information, race photos, and contact details; an online store is listed as coming soon.
