## Description

The City CDR Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to integrating Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) strategies into urban planning globally. By empowering cities to shift from extractive practices to regenerative ecosystems, the Initiative strives to create “carbon sink cities” that contribute to restoring the climate and enhancing the health and resilience of urban communities. The initiative provides essential tools, resources, and knowledge to help cities achieve net-zero emissions and set ambitious climate goals. Their comprehensive approach includes phases for opportunity baselining, capacity building, and mobilizing investment, promoting collaboration among city networks and stakeholders. They offer technical assistance, financing pathways, and advocacy to effectively scale CDR solutions in tandem with urban priorities. Through the city CDR ecosystem, the initiative fosters partnerships with various organizations, advocating for policies that support sustainable development while addressing climate change. As cities play a pivotal role in driving global emissions, the City CDR Initiative aims to transform urban spaces into thriving carbon sinks for a healthier planet.
