## Description

CARE Initiative – Centre for Advocacy, Resilience and Empowerment is a Nigerian non-governmental organization based in Maiduguri, Borno State. Established in 2025 and registered with Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission, it works with conflict-affected, disaster-affected and underserved communities, particularly in Northeast Nigeria. Its mission is to protect lives, build local capacity and advance social wellbeing through integrated humanitarian, recovery and development programmes.

The organization’s work spans nutrition, community health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), protection, social cohesion, food security and livelihoods, and institutional strengthening. Activities include nutrition screening and treatment support, health surveillance and vaccination assistance, emergency water and hygiene initiatives, child protection, gender-based violence risk mitigation, psychosocial support, cash assistance, climate-smart agriculture and savings groups. CARE Initiative also supports women-led organizations, local governance, financial and procurement systems, and community feedback mechanisms.

Its approach emphasizes rights, inclusion, gender equality, accountability, conflict sensitivity and community leadership. Operating in several local government areas of Borno State, with plans to expand across Borno and Adamawa, CARE Initiative coordinates with government bodies, UNICEF, NGOs, community leaders and humanitarian partners.
