## Description

**Carols at the Cross**

Carols at the Cross is a beloved annual community celebration held in Ryton on the last Tuesday before Christmas Eve. This heartwarming event invites everyone to join in traditional carol singing, starting at 6:30 PM, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of the Ovington Tynedale Reunion Band and the harmonious Caedmon Choir. The festivities begin with the ringing of the Ryton Church bells, creating a magical atmosphere as locals gather at the Old Cross on the village green.

Since its inception in 1986, Carols at the Cross has continued to thrive, rain or shine, becoming a cherished holiday tradition that draws families and friends together. Participants can enjoy downloadable song sheets for the carols, and there is also a collection to support St. Oswald's Hospice. After the outdoor sing-along, attendees often continue the celebration inside Ye Olde Cross Pub, indulging in festive Sheffield carols and local favorites. This community event truly embodies the spirit of the season, bringing joy and togetherness to all.
