## Description

Carter and Holmes Orchids, established by Bill Carter and Owen Holmes shortly after World War II, has evolved from selling cattleyas as cut flowers to becoming a renowned source for orchid cultivation. Their journey began during a time when corsage flowers were in high demand, leading to a significant shift in the 1960s towards producing orchids for enthusiasts to grow at home.

With a strong heritage in hybridization since the 1950s, the company developed its own laboratory for seed and tissue culture in the 1970s, garnering recognition for its exceptional art-shade cattleyas, among other varieties. Today, Carter and Holmes Orchids offers a diverse range of orchid plants, including Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, and Vanda, catering to both hobbyists and commercial growers across the United States and internationally.

Visitors are welcome to explore their greenhouses in Newberry, SC, and the company prioritizes customer inquiries through various communication channels. With a commitment to quality and customer service, Carter and Holmes continues to thrive in the orchid community.
