## Description

The Carter Family Fold and Memorial Music Center, located in Hiltons, Virginia, is a renowned institution that supports and celebrates old-time country and folk music. As a non-profit organization, they dedicate themselves to the preservation and presentation of traditional bluegrass and old-time music. Every Saturday evening from February to November, visitors can immerse themselves in the rich history of country music at the Carter Family Fold. This is where the Carter Family, the first family of country music, planted its roots. It is also the place where the legendary Johnny Cash performed his final live show. Founded in 1979 by Janette Carter, daughter of A.P. Carter, the Carter Family Memorial Music Center is now under the direction of Rita Forrester. In addition to weekly performances, visitors can explore the birthplace and cabin of A.P. Carter, which have been relocated next to the Carter Family Fold building and the Carter Family Memorial Museum. Experience the legacy of the Carter Family, honor the tradition of bluegrass and folk music, and enjoy the soulful performances at the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia.
