About

Description

CASA of Berks County is a brand that is dedicated to helping children facing neglect and abuse in the Berks County area. Our organization is part of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, which was established in 1977 by a family court judge in Seattle, WA. Recognizing the overwhelming caseloads and lack of information on cases, the judge believed that community members could make a difference.

Today, CASA programs exist across 49 states and the District of Columbia. Our trained CASA volunteers, who are appointed by judges, serve as the voice for these vulnerable children in court. They thoroughly investigate each child's situation and gather information from various sources to make recommendations to the Berks County Dependency Judges.

CASA volunteers prioritize the child's best interests, ensuring they receive essential services and advocating for a safe and permanent home. Research has shown that children with a CASA volunteer are more likely to find a safe, permanent home, succeed in school, and receive vital services. By getting involved and volunteering, you can be part of the positive impact we are making in the lives of these children.
