About

Description

Castleton Festival, founded in 2009 by Maestro Lorin Maazel and Dietlinde Turban Maazel, is a renowned brand that brings classical music, theatre, and opera to the scenic rolling hills of Rappahannock County in Virginia. With a rich musical legacy and a commitment to artistic growth, Castleton has been a transformative experience for more than 3,000 participants. Located in the beautiful Theatre House, which was once a chicken coop for 15,000 hens and now converted into a European-style theater with exceptional acoustics, Castleton offers a wide range of performances and programs.

The brand focuses on four primary activities: Castleton in Residency (CiR), Castleton in Mentorship (CiM), Castleton in Conversation (CiC), and Castleton's Vocal Immersion Program. CiR provides one to four-week residencies for artists of the highest caliber, fostering collaboration, artistic growth, and creative risk-taking. CiM encourages artists in residence to teach master classes to talented students from the local community and bring their own students for a unique educational experience.

CiC brings together a diverse range of guests for enlightening conversations through the Talking Beats podcast. Additionally, Castleton offers a Vocal Immersion Program that provides comprehensive voice training. Over the years, Castleton's residencies have exceeded expectations, resulting in numerous recordings available for streaming on their website.

With its picturesque location, inspirational surroundings, and commitment to excellence, Castleton Festival is a true haven for artists and music enthusiasts alike
