## Description

CASTODIAN is a foundation dedicated to reducing motorcycle road deaths and improving safety for motorcyclists worldwide. Its mission is to cut the annual number of motorcyclists killed in road accidents by at least 30% within the next ten years. The organisation highlights the role of head injuries in fatal crashes and promotes safer helmet use through research, education and public awareness.

CASTODIAN has identified seven factors it says contribute to helmet safety: official certification, freedom from damage or defects, replacement after seven years, a secure fit, proper use and maintenance, cleanliness and visibility. It shares this guidance with motorcyclists and stakeholders, including governments, emergency services, insurers, and helmet and motorcycle brands.

To advance its mission, the foundation organises meetings, develops campaigns, speaks at conferences and collaborates with NGOs, governments and motorcyclists. It also publishes news and educational content through articles, videos and podcasts, and offers a newsletter covering organisational developments, campaigns and partnerships.
