The circuit first hosted the Spanish Touring Car Championship just five days after its opening, followed by the Formula 1 Grand Prix a few weeks later on September 29. Since then, it has become the permanent home of the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix and the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix, two of the most renowned championships in the motorsport world. In addition to these international events, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya also hosts the FIA World Rallycross Championship and the World Superbike Championship. The calendar is further enriched by the FIM CEV Repsol International Championship, the Barcelona Festival of Speed, the International GT Open, endurance races like the Catalunya Motorcycle 24-Hour Endurance Race, the Barcelona 24-Hour Race-Trofeo Fermí Vélez, and the Spanish Resistance Championship (CER).
