- **Primary alias:** `catchtheiridium.com`

## Description

**Catch the Iridium** is an unofficial fan site that celebrates the spectacular phenomenon known as Iridium Flares, which were generated by a constellation of 95 satellites launched by Iridium Communication. The website invites amateur astronomers and photography enthusiasts to participate in an ongoing mission to document and archive images of these stunning flares, which could be seen as bright flashes in the night sky due to sunlight reflecting off the satellites' antennas. Following the decommissioning of the first-generation satellites in 2019, Catch the Iridium aims to create the most comprehensive photographic archive of these celestial occurrences.

Visitors can explore a rich gallery of Iridium Flare photographs and learn how to become flare hunters themselves through the detailed "How To" section. The site emphasizes community involvement, encouraging users to submit their own flare pictures as part of a collective effort to celebrate this unique aspect of satellite technology and astronomy. Join the mission and experience the thrill of capturing these fleeting moments!
