## Description

CAVA is a heritage and archival centre serving the free-thinking humanist community in Flanders and Brussels, as well as Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). It collects, preserves and manages records and materials that document these communities and their histories. Its holdings extend beyond archives to include periodicals, photographs and other visual materials, objects and related resources. Through its Vrije Zoeker service, visitors can consult digitised periodicals, while the catalogue and bibliography help users explore the collections.

CAVA supports both professional and amateur researchers by making its expertise and collections available for study. Visitors can also consult materials in the centre’s reading room, with guidance to help plan a visit. Its cultural programme offers activities for schools, organisations, associations, researchers and the wider public. CAVA regularly organises events in Flanders and Brussels, shares news and publications, and invites people to take part in participatory projects or volunteer. Individuals and organisations wishing to donate or transfer archival materials can also contact CAVA for support.
