## Description

Caxton Press is an independent publisher of books about the American West, founded in 1927. Guided by founder J.H. Gipson’s belief that books should be valued for their substance rather than treated as ordinary merchandise, the company presents a catalog focused on thoughtful storytelling, history, and regional knowledge. Its offerings include fiction and books for young readers, alongside nonfiction covering travel, biography, Western history, politics and economics, Native American history, and Idaho cookbooks. The catalog features works on subjects such as salmon and steelhead, mining communities, Idaho ghost towns, historical figures, and the Minidoka incarceration camp. Caxton Press also distributes titles from several publishing partners, including Historic Idaho Press, Hambleton Publishing, Photosmith Books, Renstrom Publishing, Snake Country Publishing, and the University of Idaho Press. Readers can browse new releases, best sellers, and other titles through the company’s online store, where books are available for purchase. Caxton Press also offers a mailing list for updates and promotions, provides a catalog request option, and publishes submission guidelines for prospective contributors.
