## Description

CAYA BC (Communication Assistance for Youth and Adults) is a province-wide service program in British Columbia supporting adults aged 19 and older whose speech is not functional for daily communication. Funded through the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, CAYA helps eligible people access augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools and professional support. Its mission is to enable adults with severe communication disabilities to communicate independently, maintain a vital connection with the world, and build an adult life to the best of their abilities.

CAYA serves people who are permanent B.C. residents and have a valid Personal Health Number. Individuals, families, and professionals can learn about eligibility and submit a Request for Service online or by mail or fax. The program also provides forms, technical support, client stories, news, and information about AAC services in B.C. For broader learning, CAYA offers free Canadian-made e-learning modules on topics including accessibility, communication access, and Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia.
