About
Description
Cntr4BlkEquityBalt, also known as the Center for Black Equity Baltimore, is dedicated to creating a society where all Black LGBTQ individuals can thrive and feel safe, supported, and whole. Their mission revolves around fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness within the Black LGBTQ community in the Baltimore metropolitan area, while also focusing on their mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, sexual, and economic well-being. To accomplish this, Cntr4BlkEquityBalt offers a range of culturally responsive and trauma-informed programs, including community engagement, educational programming, training, personal development, and strategic community coalition building.
They strive to educate, empower, and uplift their diverse community while combatting systemic oppression and addressing the impact of racism, sexism, and heterosexism on LGBTQ individuals' holistic health. The team at Cntr4BlkEquityBalt includes Dr. Durryle Brooks as the Executive Director, bringing years of experience in research and capacity building.
They are joined by Veronica Berruz, a former resident of Baltimore City, and Kelly Burden, a children's librarian, both dedicated to promoting the vision and mission of the organization. Located at 2530 N. Charles Street in Baltimore, MD, Cntr4BlkEquityBalt is committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of Black LGBTQ individuals and their community.
