CBI, the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries, is committed to supporting the transition towards inclusive and sustainable economies. With over 50 years of experience, we specialize in strengthening the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. Our main focus is on helping SMEs export their products and services to European and regional markets.

By connecting them to buyers and partners, we facilitate sustainable production and trade, while also promoting and creating decent jobs, with a particular emphasis on supporting women and youth entrepreneurs. We also prioritize Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) themes such as decent work, gender equality, youth empowerment, and climate action. At CBI, we take a systems approach, recognizing that addressing unsustainable practices requires collaboration with local and international stakeholders.

Through partnerships and close cooperation, we raise awareness about export opportunities, build the capacity of SMEs and service providers, provide market knowledge and support to address CSR-related risks, and promote the use of sustainable technologies and management practices. With projects in over 24 countries and 13 sectors, our aim is to achieve long-term change at the sector level. We have a vast network of international experts and are part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, with funding from the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
