## Description

The Cuerpo de Bomberos de Santiago (CBS) is a volunteer fire and emergency-response organization serving Santiago, Chile. With 22 companies and more than 2,600 volunteer firefighters, it responds to over 10,000 emergencies each year. Its work includes firefighting, vehicle and technical rescue, hazardous-material incidents, prehospital support, and search, rescue, and evacuation in remote or difficult-to-access areas. CBS teams also assist with incidents such as floods and landslides, and provide support to other fire departments when needed.

The organization combines emergency services with specialist capabilities, including urban search and rescue, hazardous-material response, and wilderness rescue. Its activities are supported by training through the Escuela de Bomberos de Santiago, as well as youth brigades and a medical department. CBS shares operational updates, news, manuals, regulations, meeting records, annual reports, and financial information through its public website. Established in 1863, it also honors its fallen members and maintains a network of companies and departments dedicated to serving the community.
