## Description

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting human rights within the mental health sector. Founded in 1969 through the collaboration of the Church of Scientology and psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz, CCHR works to investigate and expose violations of these rights globally. Operating from its headquarters in Los Angeles, the organization has successfully influenced over 150 legislative measures aimed at safeguarding individuals from coercive and abusive practices in psychiatric care.

CCHR focuses on promoting informed consent in mental health treatment, highlighting the inherent dangers of psychiatric diagnoses, and advocating for patients' rights to choose alternative therapies. It offers a wealth of resources, including educational videos, publications, and a virtual experience at the “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death” museum. By collaborating with a diverse group of professionals, including medical experts and human rights advocates, CCHR aims to empower individuals through comprehensive information and support, ensuring they are equipped to make informed decisions regarding their mental health care.
