CCLS, the Chester County Library System, has been serving Chester County and its residents since its inception in 1965. Covering a vast area of 760 square miles, CCLS caters to the needs of 15 boroughs, 57 townships, 1 city, 14 school districts, and a population of nearly 500,000 residents. As a federated system consisting of 16 member libraries and 18 library facilities, CCLS is overseen by a dedicated seven-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Chester County Commissioners.

The system's headquarters, the Chester County Library, not only serves as the district center but also houses a wealth of resources and information. Each member library within the system operates independently, receiving support from various sources such as municipalities, corporations, and the public. Moreover, these libraries provide ample volunteer opportunities, friends groups, and foundations/trusts.
