## Description

The Council of Citizens with Low Vision International (CCLVI) is a dedicated advocacy and membership organization established to empower individuals with low vision. Founded in 1979, CCLVI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and serves as a Special Interest Affiliate of the American Council of the Blind. The organization aims to ensure that individuals with low vision can fully utilize their visual capabilities through various aids, services, and education regarding their needs.

CCLVI offers a diverse range of resources and support, including scholarships like the Fred Scheigert Scholarship Program, which awards funds to college students with low vision. They also facilitate outreach programs, conduct advocacy initiatives, and host events designed to raise awareness and promote accessibility. Members receive access to valuable resources such as the “Vision Access” newsletter, podcasts, and opportunities to participate in their committees.

In addition, CCLVI's leadership is committed to fostering a community where voices of low vision individuals can be heard, advocating for enhanced services and environmental conditions to improve their quality of life.
