## Description

The Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) is an independent monitoring initiative that promotes transparency in national and international climate politics. Since 2005, it has assessed countries’ climate protection performance, helping governments, researchers, media and the public compare progress and setbacks. Each year, the CCPI publishes a new edition around the UN climate conferences, with rankings and country profiles covering 63 countries and the European Union—together responsible for more than 90% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

The index evaluates performance through four categories: greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, energy use and climate policy. Its standardized methodology uses 14 indicators, including a dedicated assessment of policies aligned with the Paris Agreement. The CCPI website provides annual rankings, detailed country information, methodology and data-use guidance, downloads, news and analysis, and resources explaining its impact and approach. It also offers information for financial markets, media and scientific audiences, alongside FAQs, testimonials and contact details. The CCPI serves as an evaluation and communication tool for climate action, making national efforts more visible and comparable.
