## Description

The Centre de communication de santé de l’Outaouais (CCSO) coordinates emergency prehospital care across the Outaouais region of Quebec. Founded in 2006, it works closely with the CISSS de l’Outaouais, the Coopérative des paramédics de l’Outaouais, and first responders to organize the response to medical emergency calls. The CCSO receives, processes, and prioritizes calls referred by 9-1-1 emergency centres, coordinates communications among prehospital service providers, and assigns first responder services. It also plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates the telephone response that links callers with emergency care. Each year, the organization handles more than 50,000 urgent situations and coordinates inter-facility transfers, helping people access prehospital services when medical intervention is needed. Its designated territory encompasses Outaouais. Guided by competence, respect, ethics, rigour, compassion, and collaboration, the CCSO aims to reduce illness and death by coordinating access to emergency services effectively and appropriately. It also seeks to contribute strategically to care pathways and the modernization of Quebec’s prehospital emergency services.
