## Description

CeCAFA, the Competence Centre for Family Farming and Agroecology, is a Portuguese collaborative centre dedicated to developing family farming and advancing agroecology. Its founding protocol was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, following an initiative by CNA and the involvement of farmer organisations, public administration bodies, education and research institutions, local development groups, and civil-society organisations. The centre brings these partners together to share knowledge and combine their expertise and resources. Its work aims to strengthen research, spread practical and scientific knowledge, encourage innovation, and improve producers’ skills in family farming and agroecology. In doing so, CeCAFA supports the sustainability of production, processing, and marketing systems. The centre also promotes learning and exchange through an innovation agenda, events, projects, publications, scientific articles, studies, and other resources. Its activities highlight the role of family farmers in rural territories, family farming’s contribution to food production and agrobiodiversity, and agroecology’s goal of socially fair and environmentally sustainable food systems. CeCAFA also shares sector news and information about training and technical activities.
