## Description

CEFERD, the Centre for Family Health Research and Development, is a public health research organization based at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, Kenya. It works to improve family and community health through evidence-based research, innovation, collaboration, and sustainable interventions. Its mission is to generate high-quality clinical, epidemiological, and health systems research that informs policy, strengthens health services, and builds human resource capacity in Kenya and beyond.

CEFERD conducts and supports studies addressing maternal and child health, tuberculosis, malaria, HIV, sickle cell disease, and other health priorities. Its research explores approaches such as AI-supported pregnancy risk assessment, digital tools for antenatal care, point-of-care diagnostics, community-based tuberculosis prevention, and stroke screening for children with sickle cell disease. The centre shares its work through research studies, journal articles, books, and a blog, and collaborates with communities, institutions, and other partners. Guided by integrity, excellence, collaboration, and impact, CEFERD aims to translate rigorous evidence into practical policies and interventions that improve health outcomes locally and globally.
