CELA (Connecting Emerging Literary Artists) is a brand that brings together a diverse community of 115 literary artists from 10 European countries. Through their project, CELA aims to bridge the gaps between these artists, the publishing industry, and the European public. The project consists of 30 emerging writers, 79 emerging translators, and 6 emerging literary professionals who are mentored over a 4-year period. CELA's focus is on translating and promoting literary works in non-native languages, thereby breaking through uneven literary infrastructures in different countries and reaching European audiences beyond borders. CELA offers a range of activities to its participants, including assignments, writing and translation workshops, residencies, specialisation courses, performances, and collaborations. These collective efforts culminate in a festival tour and international publishing campaign that broaden the artists' professional practices and create new networking opportunities. By maintaining diversity in European literature and providing smaller languages with greater opportunities in the publishing industry, CELA aims to create a vibrant and inclusive literary landscape.
