## Description

Central Grocery & Deli, a beloved cornerstone of the French Quarter in New Orleans, is renowned as the original home of the Muffuletta sandwich. Founded in 1906 by Sicilian immigrant Salvatore Lupo, this third-generation grocery showcases a charming selection of imported pastas, olive oils, and a variety of cured meats and cheeses. The specialty of the house, the Muffuletta, features meats sliced in-house, locally baked bread, and a family recipe Italian Olive Salad, delivering an authentic taste of New Orleans. After enduring extensive repairs due to Hurricane Ida, Central Grocery has resumed Muffuletta production, making these iconic sandwiches available at select local markets and even offering nationwide shipping through Goldbelly. Customers can indulge in this quintessential New Orleans experience by visiting their historic shop or ordering for delivery, ensuring everyone can savor a taste of tradition, whether in the bustling streets of New Orleans or from the comfort of home. Central Grocery continues to be celebrated by national media, solidifying its place as a culinary treasure in the city.
