## Description

Centro Ibérico de Vela is a sailing club based in Orellana la Vieja, founded in the early 2000s by a group of sailing enthusiasts. Its purpose is to promote sailing in the region and make the sport more accessible, challenging the perception that it is an elite pursuit. The club began on land provided by the local council beside the reservoir, where its founders established a place to store equipment and welcome new participants. Early offerings included introductory sailing experiences and nautical courses, developed in collaboration with regional institutions and as part of the Extremadura Sailing Federation. Today, Centro Ibérico de Vela maintains a permanent sailing school and supports a youth sailing competition team. Its activities make use of the area’s natural resources and encourage healthy outdoor recreation. The club also organizes regattas and other sailing activities, providing opportunities for people to learn, participate, and develop their skills on the water. Through its ongoing work, it contributes to the growth of sailing in Extremadura.
