## Description

CENWOR, the Centre for Women’s Research, is a Sri Lankan non-profit, non-sectarian organisation established in 1984 and registered under the Companies Act and the NGO Secretariat. Its mission is to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women through policy-oriented and action research, training, information sharing, advocacy, and monitoring of gender-related issues. Drawing on a network of academics, researchers, and activists, CENWOR works on women’s rights, gender-based violence, poverty, and vulnerabilities affecting groups including older people, people with disabilities, conflict-affected women, and women migrant workers.

The organisation provides specialist library and information services through a collection of print, digital, and audiovisual resources on gender. It also offers conference facilities, including a modern hall with seating for up to 80 people, and welcomes partnerships with local and international women’s organisations, universities, research institutions, and individuals. CENWOR undertakes capacity development, particularly for NGOs, covering gender analysis, feminist research methods, and library and information management. Its research collaborations, events, and public communications support dialogue and knowledge sharing on gender equality and social inclusion.
