CFP Board is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to setting and enforcing standards for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP) certification. With a mission to serve the public interest, CFP Board ensures that financial planners meet rigorous competency and ethical requirements to put their clients' best interests first. The organization consists of two affiliated entities: CFP Board of Standards and CFP Board Center for Financial Planning.

CFP Board of Standards focuses on upholding the professional standard of CFP certification, while the Center for Financial Planning works towards advancing competent and ethical financial planning and enhancing diversity within the CFP® professional community. CFP Board has a rich history, founded in 1985, and today there are over 96,000 CFP® professionals in the United States. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, a majority of whom hold CFP certification.
