## Description

The Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons (CGRS) has been operational since 1988, focusing on providing essential support and protection to individuals seeking asylum in Belgium. This government agency is dedicated to making reliable and timely decisions regarding refugee status and subsidiary protection, ensuring that every application is evaluated on an individual basis with rigorous adherence to legal standards, notably the Geneva Convention.

CGRS is committed to transparent processes and customer-oriented service, which fosters a respectful and unbiased atmosphere. It offers a range of services related to the asylum procedure, including issuing critical documentation for recognized refugees and stateless persons while not engaging in reception or guidance services, which are managed by the Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (Fedasil). This commitment to integrity and the well-being of applicants positions CGRS as a pivotal entity in Belgium's asylum framework, striving to address the evolving challenges faced by asylum seekers and ensuring their rights are respected.
