About
Description
Character Lab is a nonprofit organization with a mission to advance scientific insights that help kids thrive. They connect researchers with educators to create greater knowledge about the conditions that lead to social, emotional, academic, and physical well-being for young people across the country. Founded in 2013 by Angela Duckworth, author of Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, along with Dave Levin, co-founder of KIPP public charter schools, and Dominic Randolph, Head of School at Riverdale Country School, Character Lab serves as a bridge between educators and research scientists.
Character Lab offers a range of services aimed at supporting educators and parents. The Character Lab Research Network enables innovative middle and high schools to collaborate with leading researchers on original studies. They also provide Playbooks, which are research-based guides that help cultivate strengths of heart, mind, and will.
These Playbooks include curated resources such as recommended curricula, videos, and books. Additionally, Character Lab publishes a weekly Tip of the Week, where leading scientists, including Angela Duckworth, offer actionable advice in a personal letter. Overall, Character Lab combines science and practice to empower educators and parents with evidence-based strategies for fostering character development in young people
