## Description

Charleston Duck Race is an annual fundraising event presented by the Daniel Island Rotary Club in June. With up to 30,000 rubber ducks available for adoption, individuals and businesses can participate by adopting ducks for $10 each. Adoption forms can be found on the Charleston Duck Race website. All adopted ducks, regardless of the number adopted, will enter the race, and winners will be determined by the first adopted ducks to cross the finish line. The race will take place at Guggenheim Terrace, with ducks propelled towards the finish line by the City of Charleston Fire Department. In the case of extreme circumstances preventing the completion of the race, winners will be determined by a random drawing of adopted duck numbers. The Lead Participating Club will handle and possess all rubber ducks. Prizes totaling $20,000 will be awarded to the seven adopted ducks that cross the finish line first, with the first-place winner receiving $10,000. Prize winners will be announced following the race, and if necessary, winners will be notified by telephone or electronic mail. It is important to note that all taxes on prizes are the responsibility of the winners. Adopters release the Lead Participating Club and the Other Participating Clubs from any liability with respect to prizes. The entry portion of each adoption form must be completed and delivered by 5:00 PM the day before the race. Any adoptions received after that time may not be eligible for prizes. This event is subject to all laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. The net proceeds of the event will be distributed at the discretion of the Lead Participating Club and the Other Participating Clubs.
