## Description

Chattanooga Audubon Society, the oldest conservancy organization in the Chattanooga area, is dedicated to preserving and protecting environmental, cultural, and historical resources. As stewards of four unique nature sanctuaries - Audubon Acres, Maclellan Island, Audubon Mountain, and Mackey Branch Wetlands - they offer a range of educational programs and events. With a rich history dating back to its formation in 1944 by renowned naturalist Robert Sparks Walker, the society continues his legacy of stewardship and education. Walker believed in the importance of educating people about nature, protecting the environment, and learning from indigenous communities who had lived in the area for generations. At Chattanooga Audubon, you can explore hiking trails, enjoy water access for paddle sports, and experience captivating exhibits like the Robert Myers Collection and the C.E. Blevins Egg Collection. They also offer facility rentals, organize family programs, and host lectures and discussions on a variety of topics related to nature and environmental conservation. Get involved in their mission by becoming a member, making a donation, or volunteering your time. Discover the history and beauty of their sanctuaries while fostering an understanding of humanity's deep connection with nature.
