## Description

CHEJ, the Center for Health, Environment & Justice, has been a pioneering force in grassroots environmental activism since its inception in 1981. Founded by Lois Gibbs, who spearheaded the successful campaign to relocate families from the toxic Love Canal area, CHEJ is dedicated to empowering communities across the United States to combat environmental injustices. The organization provides essential resources, including training, technical assistance, and access to policy experts, helping local leaders advocate for healthier neighborhoods. CHEJ focuses on critical issues such as toxic chemicals, fracking, and environmental protection, uniting voices from diverse communities to drive impactful change. By joining forces with initiatives like the People’s Action Institute, CHEJ amplifies its efforts, fostering a robust environmental justice movement. Their programs, including the Small Grants Program and various free resources, equip activists with the tools to influence decision-making processes that affect their lives. Committed to building cleaner, greener communities, CHEJ continues to inspire and guide the next generation of environmental leaders nationwide.
