## Description

Christiane Steinmetz is a German author whose work spans illustrated children’s books, poetry, and short prose. Born in Göttingen and now based on the Lower Rhine, she studied English and German literature and has lived in several cities, including London. Her writing reflects a love of reading, storytelling, and language, with poems ranging from light-hearted and reflective to socially critical. Steinmetz often favors concise, minimalist forms that distill an idea to its essence, and describes her poetry as “verses to catch your breath along the way.”

Her books include picture books for children and families, as well as collections and individual works of poetry and prose. One featured story follows Fips, a mouse teased for her rabbit-like ears who discovers that her exceptional hearing can help protect her community. Steinmetz has also taken part in readings and cultural events, and her poems and photographs have been exhibited at Kunstfenster Rheydt. Through her varied writing and creative activities, she offers readers stories and verse that balance imagination, warmth, and thoughtful observation.
