## Description

The Christine King Farris Legacy Foundation, Inc. honors the life and work of Christine King Farris, an Atlanta native, educator, philanthropist, and civic leader. Its mission is to uplift her legacy by promoting higher education and leadership development. In its inaugural year, the foundation marked Dr. Farris’s 95th birthday and raised funds for two initiatives at Spelman College: the Leadership Program and the Christine King Farris Scholarship. These programs reflect its focus on educational opportunity and developing future leaders.

A graduate of Spelman College and Columbia University, Dr. Farris devoted 63 years to education and academic leadership in Atlanta. She taught at elementary and higher education institutions, later serving as an associate professor of education at Spelman, where she retired in 2014 as Professor Emerita. She also co-built The King Center and is a longtime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Her books include My Brother Martin, Martin Luther King: His Life and Dream, March On, and her memoir, Through It All.
