Cine Vendaval, meaning strong wind in Spanish, is a dynamic Mexican production company dedicated to nurturing and empowering emerging creative voices. With a mission to breathe new life into the industry, they inspire artists to continue their work, bringing a refreshing perspective that drives positive change in society. At the helm of Cine Vendaval is Marta Hernaiz Pidal, a highly skilled Mexican filmmaker known for her ability to challenge conventions.


Marta's journey began at the Centro de Diseño, Cine y TV in Mexico City and later led her to film. factory, a prestigious film school founded by Hungarian director Béla Tarr in Sarajevo. Her short film Dobro showcased at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival and gained recognition at over 50 international film festivals, winning the Best Short Film at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Guanajuato.


In addition to her independent productions, Marta's debut film, The Chaotic Life of Nada Kadic, premiered at the Berlinale in 2018 and was featured in various global film festivals. Her upcoming project, Straight Ahead, on your Right, has already garnered acclaim, receiving the Young Creators Grant for Scriptwriting from the National Fund for Culture and Arts in Mexico and being selected for the Cannes Film Festival Cinéfondation Residence in Paris. Cine Vendaval's collaborative spirit extends to partnerships with esteemed organizations such as Santa Clara Matadragones Cinema Fantasma and Bistrik 7.
