## Description

Cipitria Lab is a research group focused on bioengineering in regeneration and cancer. Led by Professor Amaia Cipitria, the lab is based at the Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute in San Sebastián, Spain, and investigates how the physical and biochemical characteristics of the surrounding cellular environment influence cell behavior. Its work explores both native extracellular matrix and synthetic biomaterials, with the goal of understanding their roles in tissue regeneration, cancer dormancy and bone metastasis.

The lab’s research spans tissue engineering and cancer biology, including scaffold-guided formation of soft and mineralized tissues, cell responses in three-dimensional hydrogels, and the arrest and reactivation of cancer cells. It also studies the early progression of bone metastasis, including in breast cancer. Research imagery and project descriptions feature 3D-printed scaffolds, biomaterial systems and micro-computed tomography.
