## Description

CIR, the Committee of Interns and Residents, is the largest housestaff union in the United States, representing over 30,000 resident physicians and fellows. Their mission is to improve residency training and education, advance patient care, and expand healthcare access for communities across the nation. CIR empowers interns, residents, and fellows to fight for excellence in healthcare through organizing, collective bargaining, and advocacy. Their goal is to address the root causes of burnout and transform the medical training experience. They believe in a commitment to health justice for all, advocating not only for their patients but also for themselves and each other. CIR raises the standards for residency programs by partnering with hospital administrators to create real change locally and nationally. Led by a democratically elected Executive Committee and House of Delegates, CIR is dedicated to providing safe working conditions and better patient outcomes for its members. By forming a union, housestaff gain a unified voice to advocate for their rights and the rights of their patients.
